New Social Security Site for Women
Many life circumstances - marriage, divorce, widowhood, the birth of a child
- have their own sets of Social Security rules. These rules can be confusing
and daunting, especially for women who are applying for Social Security benefits
for the first time. The Social Security Administration has recently launched
Social Security Online for Women, a web site specifically designed for women.
Information included on the site includes a Social Security benefits planner,
getting a Social Security number on your divorced husband’s record, changing
your name with the Social Security system and getting a new Social Security
number if, for example, this might help to alleviate any harassment or domestic
violence.
There are also answers to some frequently asked questions such as: Are you
