Divorce Planning Services:
While divorce financial planning can be applied to litigated, mediated and collaborative divorces, it is most effective when begun early in the process. Handled improperly, divorce can lead to unworkable outcomes and future financial hardships. These in turn can lead to emotional scarring of the children as well as the parents. In applying the principles of financial planning to divorce, it is important to stabilize the situation early. This enables individuals to address their short-term needs and begin to identify, analyze and define the financial issues of the divorce. Doing this properly is important because the ultimate financial outcome will be dependent upon the reliability of the information. Armed with good information, it is possible to quantify the needs and paying abilities of the parties, analyze proposed settlements in their long-term economic contexts and, where appropriate, develop alternative settlement scenarios for discussion or review.
A free initial consultation is provided to prospective clients to determine if their needs and my practice are well-matched.
